Testaccio Club • Rome
Renovation of a lounge bar and disco in the historic Testaccio district.
Our approach to this 450-square-meter, two-level project revolves around the fascinating contrast between contemporary aesthetics and the ancient architecture of the building, carved into the rock of Monte dei Cocci. Throughout the renovation, we have deliberately juxtaposed the original arches, barrel roofs and wall cornices with a modern design language that emphasizes industrial elements. Cool colors and materials such as micro-perforated sheet metal, large steel panels, and cast-in-place concrete play a significant role in achieving this aesthetic. On the ground floor, a striking 7-meter-long concrete counter seamlessly connects to the indoor kitchen and creates a harmonious dialogue with the DJ booth. This circular booth is elegantly raised from the floor, adding a touch of intrigue to the space. As you enter the venue, your attention is captured by a suspended polished steel sinusoidal desk, perfectly integrated into the metal backdrop.
